TOP FIVE:
1. 1996 Randall's Island (Sutton)
2. 1996 Rome (Locchi)
3. 2000 Boston (Ames)
4. 2000 Seattle (Ames)
5. 1999 Ed w/C Average (Uncle Charlie)

With a long period between updates, there is alot to talk about. At the time of this update, the new Pearl Jam tour has begun, which means more posters! What is interesting this time around is that the poster distribution from Ames Brothers is a little different...for this tour, Ames will only be selling 40 signed/numbered posters, and no more. The bulk of the posters are distributed at the show (which is the way it should be), and any posters that are left over will presumably be handled through the Ten Club. What this basically means it is very possible with this limited distribution arrangement that the 2003 posters will be harder to get than the 2000 posters were. In fact, this policy has caused a frenzy as poster collectors are buying up these posters extremely quickly hoping not to be shut out, and so far causing both Ames Brothers and the Ten Club to sell out very quickly when they are put up for sale (for instance Ames sold out of their copies of the Sydney 2003 poster in a little over 10 minutes).

The posters for the 2000 tour are, for the most part, are pretty much at an all-time low. Some posters only sell in the $15-20 range. The larger print runs for these posters may be a factor, as well as the extended sale that Ames has on some of them (where you can get some of them for only $25). The posters for the 1998 tour are usually doing very well, especially for the posters that Ames Brothers have sold out of. The biggest "winner" this time around has to be the Perth 1998 poster (#56), where its calculated value (by us) has over doubled! The 1996 posters are all doing very well, most showing great interest. One 1996 poster of note is the Randall's Island (#26). It wasn't long ago that this poster was commonplace and very easy to find for $20 or less; as time goes by, the prices paid for this increase higher and higher, now even reaching the $70 range. The older posters, especially the Koziks, are bouncing back a little, probably to more realistic levels.

With this update, we have combined all the "printings" for the Joey Mars Boston poster (#1) into one entry, since there wasn't any good way to tell the photocopies apart. Also we have started adding the 2003 posters to the database (including the December 2002 posters). Since the new tour is underway, we will have value updates more frequently to try and keep up with the new additions.

8/16/02
TOP FIVE:
1. 1996 Rome (Locchi)
2. 1996 Randall's Island (Sutton)
3. 1999 Ed w/C Average (Uncle Charlie)
4. 1996 Merriweather (Ames)
5. 2000 Virginia Beach (Ames)

Probably the biggest item of interest this time is that Ames Brothers is selling out of certain posters, and almost immediately there seemed to be a mad scramble trying to find the sold-out prints. The posters that sold out recently were the '96 Rome/Milan (#40), the '96 Istanbul (#42), the '97 Oakland (#46), the '98 Maui (#49), and the '98 Los Angeles (#74). For the most part, this suddenly increased demand already started driving the values up for these particular posters.

Posters from the 2000 tour, for the most part, are most definitely at their lowest point since their release. An extended Ames Brothers poster sale and what seems to be lessened demand have helped decrease the values to the $25-30 mark, and the higher average number of 2000 posters printed versus the 1996 and 1998 tour is also an attributing factor. Again, the U.S. posters seem to do better than the European posters. This surely is a great time to pick some of them up if you can and haven't already. If the past is a successful indicator, once the next tour begins in early 2003 (bringing with it hopefully many more show posters by Ames), then the posters from the preceding tour will be harder to find from then on.

A greater number of auctions has hurt both the '98 Kozik (#102) and the '96 Locchi (#39) posters. The Uncle Charlie Who/C-Average poster (#103) has flooded the market as well, with some auctions only going for $10-15, due to a seemingly endless reprinting by the artist. On the other hand, the "Do the Evolution" McFarlane poster (#80) is now a lot harder to find, and surprisingly the most recent show poster, the one for the Groundwork benefit (#132) late last year, is reaching impressive numbers.

And lastly, with a current value of $32.50, a Paris/Italy 2000 Ames Brothers poster (#107), supposedly signed by band members, sold for an incredible $485.75! This one was a Sotheby's auction, and the "Sotheby's" name alone probably gave the bidders of the auction some reassurance that the signature on the poster was genuine.

5/09/02
TOP FIVE:
1. 1999 Ed w/C Average (Uncle Charlie)
2. 2000 Portland (Voodoo Catbox)
3. 1998 "Summer Tour" (Ames)
4. 1996 Ft. Lauderdale (Getz)
5. 1996 Randall's Island (Sutton)/2000 New York (Ames)

Probably the biggest event this time around is a new mark set for the first edition 1992 Kozik poster (#5), the highest that we have ever seen a poster go for. Another poster that saw a huge jump is the Chavez 1997 BGP poster (#45). The sale of the 2000 posters seems to be diminishing on eBay, with many poster transactions below the Ames Brothers selling price, especially for the 2000 European posters.
What is a value update without mentioning the Charlotte '96 poster (#28)? (Can you tell the guy who writes this lives there?) Anyway, the value is still falling; but from what we can tell, the supplies of most sellers are all gone, so we expect this decrease to not continue in the future. Yet another poster that seems to be of interest of late is the Fall '93 poster (#9). It seems that for this once-plentiful poster (that the Ten Club was practically giving away at one point), most people just did not keep their copy is good condition. So the copies you see for sell on auction sites usually have significant damage such as tackholes...and even these less-than-mint copies are fetching a fairly nice price. Another "where are they now?" story is the '96 Prague (#41) by Sutton. Many poster collectors are finding this poster to be hard to find for whatever reason.
With this update, we have an initial value for the '96 Showbox poster (#23).

2/04/02
TOP FIVE:
1. 1996 Randall's Island (Sutton)
2. 1996 Ft. Lauderdale (Getz)
3. 2000 Stockholm/Oslo/Copenhagen (Ames)
4. 1999 Ed w/C Average (Uncle Charlie)
5. 1998 Live On Two Legs (Kozik)

This has been the longest time between value updates that we have done so far, so there has been a lot of activity to talk about. Basically, all posters are dropping in value across the board, which is probably mainly from the weakening U.S. economy, and perhaps from the Christmas season. Most posters have dropped only a small percentage though, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. Both the Charlotte '96 poster and the Ed + C Average '99 poster have now fallen significantly from its peak from the last value update, due perhaps to decreased demand, and posters like the 1998 Kozik Lo2L poster, the 1996 Getz poster, and even the 2000 Stockholm poster have plummeted in value due to an over-abundance of eBay auctions. Almost all of the 2000 posters are dropping in value, most now being even below the current Ames Brothers price. One notable exception is the Phoenix 2000 poster by Kuhn, which has been doing very well despite the recession, possibly due to the special hologram that was used for that particular poster, and makes it especially interesting.
This is all very good news for newbie poster collectors (or rather for all poster collectors actually), since it is now a very good time to pick up some posters while the prices are low. With this update, we also now have a value for the newest poster, the 2001 Groundwork poster.

10/29/01
TOP FIVE:
1. 2000 Holland/Brussels/Rotterdam (Ames)
2. 1998 New York (Ames)
3. 1996 Randall's Island (Sutton)
4. 2000 Stockholm/Oslo/Copenhagen (Ames)
5. 2000 Houston/Dallas/Lubbock (Ames)

It has been a little while since the last update, and many transactions were recorded (as usual). In addition to the data for the past couple of months, we also added into the database some values from the year 2000 that Chris at the Unofficial Poster Archive had collected previously and that we had mistakenly neglected to include, which gave us an even more solid foundation in some cases. We are pretty much at a point now where we feel the values shown at very accurate for the most part.
Kind of amazingly, a bunch of 2000 Stockholm posters traded hands this time around (which also had an incredible jump), even making it to #4 on our "Top Five" list. The Charlotte 1996 Emek poster appears to have stabilized somewhat, and incredibly, both the 1996 Randall's Island and 1998 New York posters are worth almost twice they were even just 5 months ago.
The next couple of months should be interesting since it traditionally is the time when the most posters are sold, and usually more of the "rare" posters seem to surface. Also, look for our next update at the very beginning of 2002, where we will showcase some special indepth "year-in-review" poster information.

8/29/01
TOP FIVE:
1. 1996 Randall's Island (Sutton)
2. 1996 Charleston (TAZ)
3. 2000 New York (Ames)
4. 1998 "Summer Tour" (Ames)
5. 2000 West Palm Beach/Tampa (Ames)

With this price update, we are adding another feature which will hopefully make this page even more meaningful to poster collectors. If a poster is listed in grey, then that means that no known poster transaction has occurred for at least the past six months (this number may change in the future...we will see how it goes). This should help the visitor know that certain posters are possibly not valued correctly, for instance the rare 2000 Stockholm poster that no one wants to part with. In most cases it should not matter that much, but it should be seen as a "warning flag" that the value may be off. We also want to note that at this time, we now have over a year's worth of solid data recorded.
As for the update itself, the Emek Charlotte '96 continues it's climb, and the Kozik Houston '92 second printing saw a big jump too. Another interesting event that occurred since the last update was the very quick "coming and going" of the new mysterious artist group Missing Link, who offered three new 2000 posters for less than one week before they were shelved by the band. This apparently created a artifical shortage which quickly inflated the values, as evidenced by the high prices the 2000 Chicago went for on the open market after the shutdown. It is also interesting to see that the New York '96 poster has experienced a nice increase, given how many have been sold in the past year.

7/05/01
TOP FIVE:
1. 1996 Randall's Island (Sutton)
2. 2000 Prague/Katowice/Ljubljana (Ames)
3. 2000 New York (Ames)/2000 Montreal (Ames)
4. 2000 Boston (Ames)
5. 2000 Holland/Brussels/Rotterdam (Ames)

It has been awhile since the last update, so many good transactions were recorded. The Charlotte '96 poster continues to climb, already worth almost double what it was a year ago. As you can see, most of the values for the U.S. 1996 posters are rising, except the over-saturated Randall's Island '96 poster by Ward Sutton. Most of the poster activity (see the Top 5 list) is directly the result of the Ten Club selling some of the 2000 posters for a time. It is also interesting to note that, generally speaking, values for U.S. posters are increasing (especially posters that were produced in 1996 or later), whereas values for posters for shows with European dates are falling. Also, with a new ongoing Ames Brothers sale, it should be expected that the values of those particular 2000 posters that are on sale to drop significantly. As noted on the updates page, with this update we are moving two posters that are now seen as promo posters: the Ames Seattle '00 preshow poster and the "Live on Two Legs" double-sided poster.

5/25/01
TOP FIVE:
1. 1996 Randall's Island (Sutton)
2. 1996 Merriweather (Ames)
3. 2000 Koln/Nurnberg/Salzburg/Zurich (Ames)
4. 2000 Seattle (Ames)
5. 2000 Houston/Dallas/Lubbock (Ames)

This update is not as much of a change as the last one, but as you can see, some poster prices did swing some. Most of the 2000 Ames posters are migrating toward the $40 mark (as they should), except for the Vegas poster, which keeps "breaking all the rules". The 1993 Ames "piano" poster has been soaring since the first of the year as well. Also have some values for some of the 1995 Ames posters that we were missing before.

4/24/01
TOP FIVE:
1. 1996 Randall's Island (Sutton)
2. 2000 Las Vegas (Ames)/2000 Portland (Voodoo Catbox)
3. 2000 Seattle (Ames)
4. 1996 Merriweather (Ames)
5. 1998 "Summer Tour" (Ames)

We knew some of our values for some of the older posters were wrong, and sure enough, they were. You should notice big drops for posters like the Adelaide '98 and Amsterdam '96. A new Ames pricelist with some higher non-sale prices for some of the '98 posters also caused them to increase. 2000 posters are still generally on the decline, but should increase again when dealer poster supplies decrease. The biggest value increase goes to the Sacramento '98 poster, and again this is a total fluke; we think the older Ames pricelist had an incorrect price on it, so when the price was corrected, caused the price to skyrocket. For the most part, these price fluctuations should not be viewed as trends as of yet, since we are still in the beginning stages, and are trying to stabilize our values.
