How feasible would it be for this site to host torrents. We could have an entire thread dedicated to sharing music. I know this will probably cause some concern because people might post studio album which puts Allen at risk, but what if it's live stuff. What if we keep it specific to plutonium members and cut that section off altogether (no new members). I;m just trying to make it easier to get some of the stuff I have out to the masses in the quickest possible way. Plus, I hate having to keep ratios at other sites. At least here, you can't get banned for being a douche. You're already on BRY. People already consider you a douche.

This sounds like a great idea.  Sort of an updated Hub thing.  I was once emailed a torrent file, opened it in uTorrent and it downloaded.  I think it was just a direct connection type thing, so swarm type stuff wouldn't happen I am guessing.  I don't really know.

Torrents would be cool ... otherwise a service like Dropbox would work.

I was gonna say the same thing. Dropbox works GREAT and is easy.

From a technical perspective, we can certainly host the torrents here.

Assuming the torrent was created correctly, it would be uploaded to a thread message just like any other file.

Dropbox, however, would be much easier for everyone to work with.....

EDIT:  just looked a little closer at Dropbox - there is a 2GB storage limitation on the free account.....

I'm looking to upload .iso files upwards of 7gigs (dual layer). So dropbox is a bad idea.

Yea, with Dropbox you would have to pay for more. But I think the more people you invite that accept your invitation, the more space they give you for free. I used it to share the Alpine Vally Lolla 92 DVD. It worked great. I just created a parent SHARE folder. Put the Alpine Valley 92 or any other DVD or audio folder in that. Click share the folder, choose the folder you want to share. Then invite people by email. When they accept, you get notified and the person can download the folder and do what they want. Its obviously cloud computing because you are hosting the folders online via Dropbox. You access peoples shares by signing into Dropbox.com. I love it. But IDK how practical it is for sharing tons of stuff. Obviously we will have to pay.

We've already paid Allen for this site. I can't imagine it'd be hard for him to allow hosting of some sort.

I think I could set up a torrent hosting if this is something that you guys want. I would want some control over it, so stuff doesn't get posted that would bring the site down for being illegal.
