Notes/History:
The artwork was originally designed by Emek for Amnesty International.  According to Emek, once he gave the design to Amnesty, the logo was shelved in their archives, and that was to be the end of the story...

As fate would have it, that was not the end of the story.  While browsing tattoo shops with some friends, Emek stumbled across his "peace sign" design crudely photocopied, and taped onto the window of a tattoo parlor, without any type of credit for the art.  It was at that point that Emek decided he must do something with the design... "Now, that is flattering and all, but it did not have my name on it, and I did not want this image to start appearing everywhere, and then later on people thinking I did not create it (especially since SO MANY rock poster artists these days steal ideas from pop culture- I am guilty too)."

He began to brainstorm about what he could do with it. Eventually, thoughts lead him to Pearl Jam, who were a great political band, and had just been through the ringer with "Ticketmonster" while on their dozen show tour in 1996, and the logo appealed to their vibe at the time, having just done the Mirrorball record with Neil Young. Emek put in a phone call to Kelly Curtis, Pearl Jam's manager.  Obviously, Kelly and the band were excited, and the wheels were set in motion to make this design a poster reality. To quote Emek: "so I put it all together as a poster, giving it that aggressive 60's meets 90's edge. peace/power struggle thing... and the rest is history. It is one of my favorite posters, and totally original."

To this day, Emek proudly views this as one of his best works ever.  A great design with beautiful, vibrant colors and blending. For added impact, he even screened the gold layer twice!  In the end, Emek got credit for his design, and Pearl Jam and their fans got one hell of a poster, to this day one of the best rock posters ever!

Many, many thanks to Emek for the history behind the poster, and permission for use of the image.
